Programs
The mission of BOOKS for the BARRIOS is to strengthen public elementary school education worldwide, equal access to quality education to all children, most especially the disadvantaged children. We have many programs designed to help students and teachers, both at home in the U.S. and throughout the world. Over the past two decades, BOOKS for the BARRIOS has made a major impact on education in many impoverished areas of the world and on the awareness of U.S. children.     Learn about how we collect an ship educational material, set up Model-Of-Excellence Schools, and provide needed educational training for rural educators.

    See how we involve U.S. children in the process of helping their overseas counterparts through educational field trips.

    We help sustain the global and U.S. environment by diverting at least 700,000 pounds of valuable books and learning tools heading to U.S. landfills yearly.

    We offer consulting services for replicating our model in U.S. cities and developing countries, and our Global Pupils' E-mail Program has nearly 40,000 participants.
  • Post-Conflict Reconstruction   ( 1 Article )
    We work closely with American military combat forces in conflict areas by sharing our resources to support their local humanitarian aid projects.
