Since 1981, BOOKS for the BARRIOS in Concord, California has been molding the future of millions of children all over the Philippines. To date, BOOKS for the BARRIOS, has sent over 9 million books to the most remote areas or "barrios" of the Philippines. They have built over 50 "Model of Excellence" schools topping the charts in national test scores.

Many developing countries are suffering from a “brain drain” losing many of its educated population for opportunities abroad, especially their most qualified teachers. The effects are widespread but strengthening the education is the key element in securing economic development and a better quality of life for citizens around the world.
